If my mom were alive today, she would say that the worldwide chaos we are living – especially as a result of COVID and climate change — is a sign that the endtimes are near. Every hurricane, flood, drought, plague or any other major natural disaster would trigger such a prognosis. Today, she probably would be considered a prophet.
Have we indeed reached the endtimes?
Certainly, many religions worldwide preach that. But what do the scientists say?
In effect, that’s what “climate change” is all about. The UN’s climate change report, released this August, issued a code red for humanity. While there are many studies on climate change, the only real source of disagreement is the date in which this extreme worldwide calamity will unfold. That is the consensus of virtually all the world’s scientists. They are in agreement that if not addressed immediately on a global scale, it will threaten not simply humanity, but the planet itself, this beginning in 10 years. Incidentally, with the melting of the polar ice caps, raging forest fires and droughts worldwide, some believe that that point of no return is already upon us.
About the same percentage of the world’s scientists and medical professionals are in agreement that COVID represents another code red for humanity, that if not addressed immediately on a global scale, will continue to pose a grave danger to humanity. And then there is that 1% of scientists or medical professionals – think US Rep. Rand Paul – who scoff at the “mainstream” medical and scientific community, even though their own medical expertise has nothing to do with viruses or pandemics. etc. And on this topic, it is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a conspiracy buff – with zero medical or scientific expertise – that is driving the anti-vaccine narrative on social media, along with the pro-COVID Governors Ron DeSantis of Florida and Greg Abbott of Texas.
The United States should merit its own separate code red as we absolutely are living in a divided nation, arguably already in the midst of a low intensity Second Civil War. This can clearly be demonstrated in virtually everything Americana, especially as it relates to values and ethics, which actually brings us to the 2020 census, which data was released this past month. In a nutshell, the browning of America continues as it shows that the white population has stopped growing. It is clearly what fuels the angst of the fanatical or extremist wing of the U.S. political spectrum, including the GOP, which continues to be beholden to their dear leader, determined not simply to overturn that past election, but to literally overthrow the government and send us back to the 19th century.
And then there is Afghanistan. Twenty years of US military presence and the recent developments there have simply shown that the United States was never actually embraced there; no imperial power has ever succeeded in Afghanistan. Given what has happened there, it makes one wonder about Iraq; that war and invasion had even less legitimacy than Afghanistan, as everything about it was trumped up by an outlaw US administration. How long would the government of Iraq last if the US occupation force were to also leave after nearly 20 years?
But returning to the topic of a second civil war, it didn’t just start with the Orange Madman and the storming of the capitol on Jan. 6. The irony is that conservatives are clear about this war; that’s why reasoned arguments, facts or logic have zero effect on them, especially as it relates to all matters before Congress. While some liberals in Congress are complicit in this war, most are at best naive, thinking that if they appease their counterparts, they might eventually come over to their side. One such example is the issue of immigration, and the border wall.
The process of dismantling the wall – the ultimate symbol of fear and hate – should have begun on day one of the Biden administration, not simply cutting off its funding. If the wall remains in place, there is little doubt what will happen if the GOPers once again take back control of the White House. And in regards to the surge at the border, if the president wants to distinguish himself and his policies from that of his white-supremacist predecessor, he needs to implement policies that treat migrants and refugees as full human beings, with corresponding full human rights, not as invading Brown and Black hordes. And truly, throw in race – exploit it – and that is what becomes the fuel for this second [racial] civil war: the great replacement theory and thus their need for more guns.
Can all this be called a theory when racial hatred and violence in this country continues to rise, or is it but confirmation of another code red for this country?

Si bien algunos liberales en el Congreso son cómplices de esta guerra, la mayoría son, en el mejor de los casos, ingenuos y piensan que si apaciguan a sus contrapartes, eventualmente podrían ponerse de su lado. Un ejemplo de ello es el tema de la inmigración y el muro fronterizo.
El proceso de desmantelamiento del muro, el símbolo máximo del miedo y el odio, debería haber comenzado el primer día de la administración Biden, no simplemente cortar su financiamiento. Si el muro permanece en su lugar, hay pocas dudas de lo que sucederá si los republicanos vuelven a tomar el control de la Casa Blanca. Y con respecto al aumento en la frontera, si el presidente quiere distinguirse a sí mismo y a sus políticas de las de su predecesor supremacista blanco, necesita implementar políticas que traten a los migrantes y refugiados como seres humanos plenos, con los correspondientes derechos humanos plenos. no como hordas invasoras de las Razas Indígenas y Africanas. Y en verdad, explotan el tema de Razas, y eso es lo que se convierte en el combustible para esta segunda guerra civil [racial]: la gran teoría del reemplazo y, por lo tanto, su necesidad de más armas.
¿Se puede llamar a todo esto una teoría cuando el odio racial y la violencia en este país continúan aumentando, o es solo la confirmación de otro código rojo para este país?
