I recently read where the present Secretary of Agriculture said that Trump’s policies will bring a Golden Age for U.S. farmers. From things I see happening now, I believe that’s going to happen. The signs are starting to show up now. Have faith.
I grew up during the 1940s-1950s. If ever U.S. farmers lived in a “Golden Age,” it was back then. I saw a lot of farms bought and paid for within a few years. Farmers were buying new, or much better, cars and farm machinery every few years. Most old farm houses were remodeled and modernized. That was a time when life on the farm matched the standard of living our city cousins had. Things became available which made that possible. And, most important, farmers earned enough to pay for those things. One thing made that possible — $2 wheat. Ask any farmer in those days what was the symbol of that “Golden Age” and he would have said $2 wheat. That held true into the 1970s. Old farmers today will probably still tell you “$2 wheat brought prosperity.” It brought that “Golden Age.”
Now for the farmers who voted for Trump, and probably made him president now — stop worrying. Your man is going to deliver on the promises he made. Prosperity is coming. Let the celebrating start, because the good times are going to roll. The sign is starting to appear that a “Golden Age” is coming. It may take a while, but it’s coming. You voted for the right candidate.
I still watch the grain markets and wheat prices are starting to move. If the present trend line holds, it points to better times ahead. It has taken a long time, but it looks like, after a long lifetime of waiting, I’m going to see $2 wheat again. Trump’s policies are going to bring another Golden Age for my Golden Years. $2 wheat!
You see, I’m a rare person — a farmer who has been a lifetime Democrat. I still farm some; still raise a few acres of wheat. That keeps me going; probably keeps me out of the nursing home. A few years ago the weather cooperated and I was able to sell a few hundred bushels of wheat. But that was back when Biden and the Democrats were in power, so I only got about $11 a bushel for that wheat. THAT WAS A DISGRACE. That’s why Democrats in power are bad for farmers. Republicans in power are good for farmers. The evidence is conclusive. We only have to wait some.
It’s going to take awhile. But the machinery is in motion. It’s going to be nice to see prosperity back on the farm again and the good times I saw when I was young. Guess I should have been a Republican all these years.
