An ignored book worth unearthing at this traumatic time was published back in 1953, the very year Ike’s baleful pair of henchmen, the Dulles Brothers, covertly replaced Iran’s obstreperous legitimate leader Massadegh with the sadist Shah to sate the Brits’ and Wall Street’s greed for boundless oil plunder and profits. It’s titled “Mariners, Renegades and Castaways, penned by C.L.R. James, the Black West-Indian scholar explosively revealing the real significance of Herman Melville’s masterly epic, “Moby Dick,” which tragically flopped when first printed in 1851’s philistine New York City. Remarkably, considering our current fearful global crisis. James convincingly identifies that depthless tome “as the first comprehensive statement in literature of the conditions and perspectives for the survival of Western Civilization.” For all time he manages to connect the cold, dark nihilistic matter at the core of modern Man (no woman evidently qualifies) with today’s today’s cancroid glaring proliferation of genocidal tyrannies across this vulnerable planet we’re so lucky fleetingly to overoccupy.
Very truly and cordially,
